Marissa Alvarez is a public relations and communications professional with a passion for storytelling, media relations, and building meaningful connections. As a Public Relations Assistant at The Now PR, she helps bring campaigns to life through press release writing, media outreach, event coordination, and strategic communications. She enjoys working closely with clients, building relationships with journalists, and finding creative ways to connect brands and artists with the right audiences.
Drawing on her background in journalism, Marissa brings an editorial mindset to every campaign. She has written and distributed press releases, built targeted media lists, pitched stories to the press, coordinated events, and supported publicity campaigns for clients across the entertainment, music, and lifestyle industries. She believes that the best public relations starts with authentic storytelling and strong relationships.
Before transitioning into public relations, Marissa served as the Music Managing Editor at MXDWN.COM, where she led coverage of album releases, concerts, and music festivals while mentoring a team of writers. Her journalism has also appeared in VUE NJ Magazine, TAPinto, The Outlook at Monmouth University, and The Now Media, where she covered entertainment, culture, and lifestyle stories across digital and social platforms.
Marissa graduated from Monmouth University in 2025 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, specializing in Journalism and Public Relations, and completed the NYU
Modern Journalism Certificate in 2024. She was also honored with Monmouth University's Excellence in Writing Award (2024) and Robert Huber Leadership Award (2025).
