Marissa Alvarez is a multimedia journalist and editor specializing in entertainment, arts, and news reporting. She brings a keen editorial eye, a commitment to accuracy, and a genuine passion for the written word to every project she undertakes.
Previously, she served as the Music Managing Editor at MXDWN.COM, where she oversaw coverage of album reviews, concert reviews, and music festival reviews, while also developing her editorial leadership skills. Her work has been featured in several publications, including VUE NJ Magazine, TAPinto, The Outlook at Monmouth University, and WhatSong.com, which has enabled her to develop her writing, reporting, and content creation skills.
Alvarez has received recognition for her achievements with the Excellence in Writing Award (2024) and the Robert Huber Leadership Award (2025) from the Communication Department at Monmouth University.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication, with a specialization in Journalism and Public Relations from Monmouth University in May 2025 and has earned the NYU Modern Journalism Certificate in December 2024.
Currently, Alvarez is interning as a multimedia journalist at The Now Media, where she curates stories and creates engaging content for social media platforms focused on entertainment and culture.
